HARRIERS PIONEER 8K ~ 2020
THE HARRIERS PIONEER 8K is the first race of the 2020 VIRA ~ Vancouver Island Race Series. A record number of 546 runners participated in this year's edition.
Cooler temperatures saw the runners off, with a light breeze picking up near the turnaround point; it only started raining as the last of the runners were coming in.
This was a memorable milestone for Maurice Tarrant, who at 90 is the oldest running Harrier and oldest participant. Maurice set a new Canadian Masters Record in the 90-99 Age Category in a time of 1:13:09. Simply spectacular.
A special thanks goes to all the hard working volunteers who made sure that everything ran smoothly and on time.
